I was delighted when my book was officially lauched at the British Music Experience.The panalists in this picture are from left to right, Biff Byford (SAXON), Alex Lewis (Tolkien contributer) and last but certainly not least Mark Wilkinson (Artist ilustrator and my book designer) The evening went well and I was delighted my book was finally in the public domain.

A special talk and book launch to celebrate the art work and album covers of one of the UK’s premier contemporary fantasy artists on November 1st at 7 pm.

Across 176 lavishly illustrated pages in a hardback book housed inside a slipcase, Paul Raymond Gregory’s staggering achievement as an artist over the past 35 years is revealed for the first time in print. There is also a special collector’s clothbound edition, strictly limited to 500 signed copies, housed inside a slipcase, with a wallet containing a unique art print and personalised certificate of Authenticity to each purchaser. 

 Designed by artist Mark Wilkinson, a long time admirer of Paul’s (who has produced album covers for Marillion, Fish, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and The Darkness). The comprehensive text is by Alex Lewis, a specialist writer from the Tolkien Society and Greg Moffitt, a well known rock journalist and author.

The latest Tolkien inspired work from my studio, a triptych titled Falls of Esgalduin from the series of paintings collectively know as Beren and Luthien.

From the Golden Age of illustration from the 1860s to 1920s up to the present day, this exhibition explores the prevailing interest amongst story tellers, artists, film makers and illustrators in the world of fairies.

The Truth about Faeries introduces mischievous and bad fairies such as brownies, goblins and trolls; good and beautiful fairies with gossamer wings; even fake fairies. It features the Victorian and Edwardian book illustrations of Richard Doyle, Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac as well as by Pre-Raphaelite artists Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Coley Burne-Jones. Fairies manifest themselves in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest; in classic fairy tales Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty; in Cecily Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies; as well as on page and screen in The Lord of the Rings. They appear in print, paint… and even in the round.

The story is brought up to date with works from contemporary artist Paul Gregory’s Tolkien Monumental Series and works by Brian and Wendy Froud, Alan Lee, Patrick Woodroffe, Sean Jefferson and Charles Summers.

The Truth About Faeries was originated by Anne Anderson at Southampton City Art Gallery and the tour is organised by Expositionis. The exhibition and accompanying catalogue have been sponsored by FOSMAG, Peter Nahum @ the Leicester Galleries and Frederick Warne, publisher of the Flower Fairies^TM books.
